Welcome to Swan Samba

We are a Hampshire-based samba fusion drumming and movement band, proudly affiliated with Roynon Performing Arts since 2019.

Our core aim is to provide accessible, enjoyable drumming experiences while supporting community wellbeing.

Swan Samba have performed at events across the south including Wickham Festival, Winchester Hat Fair, Romsey Carnival and Eastleigh Mela as well as on TV and radio.

We welcome all enquiries about joining the band, booking us for events, or arranging immersive workshops for schools and business team-building.

Swan Samba have performed at our charity festival for the past two years. They are brilliant at pre event communication and a fantastic group of talented drummers. Their energy is superb! We look forward to them returning for another year at @goodfestivalhampshire in aid of the Hampshire Medical Fund charity.

I popped along to a couple of introductory sessions at Swanmore College. Firstly, everyone was immediately welcoming so my nerves immediately disappeared. The vibe in the room was amazing and I enjoyed every moment. I loved the combination of body movement and drum rhythms. The group is open to answering any questions and providing useful tips along the way. Gary is a great teacher - patient and hugely energetic, which definitely affects the energy of the drummers too! 😁🥁

From the very first moment it was welcoming, friendly, relaxed and good fun. I was soon banging a drum with everybody else, absorbed into the beat, learning and laughing by banging, as well as the guidance from Gary and the other drummers around me.Overall, a great bang for my buck !!

Colleagues at SNG recently had the pleasure of participating in a samba drumming session, led by Gary from Swan Samba. This session was a fantastic team-building experience that left everyone feeling uplifted, connected, and truly invigorated!The experience was designed to bring people together through the power of rhythm and music, creating an inclusive, enjoyable environment where participants could forget their worries and focus solely on the joy of the moment.From the moment Gary started on the drums, the energy in the room was electric. We were introduced to the rhythms of samba, with each of us given the opportunity to play and contribute to the collective sound.Gary’s infectious enthusiasm and clear instructions made it easy for even complete beginners to jump right in and start drumming. No prior musical experience was necessary, which made it an inclusive experience for everyone. We wholeheartedly recommend this experience to any team looking to mix things up and create lasting, memorable moments together!

I’ve always loved Samba bands at different running events I’ve done over the years. And I bit the bullet and signed up for 2 taster sessions with Swan Samba that practice at Swanmore School.I absolutely love it! The band members are so friendly and helpful. I have a zero musical background but love to tap and move to a beat. And wow what a beat there is. It is so exciting and thrilling. All the members are ready to give advice and Gary who runs the band is a bundle of energy bringing it all together and making it thrilling to play in and also watch and listen to.Been a fantastic experience so far.
