The main band is run via weekly sessions to all abilities in term time for ages 11+ in Swanmore, Hampshire (UK). All are welcome to try out the taster sessions for just £15.
Events
Swan Samba are available for performances at a range of events in and around Hampshire (UK) and welcome all enquiries! Previous performances have included Wickham Festival, Winchester Hat Fair, various carnivals and processions (including Romsey and Hedge End), charity events and private functions.
Learning
There is also the opportunity to join a junior band for younger ages. Local schools and clubs to sign up for lessons and performances (all of which are run by dedicated, qualified teachers with full DBS and classroom experience). School projects can also include INSET training and activities to help with delivering cross curricular content and/or teacher and student well-being. We also welcome any online work and can plan and teach units to tailor for topics or school targets via Zoom.
Roynon family
The band are extremely proud to be affiliated with Roynon Performing Arts, a school established for over 40 years which currently delivers over 20 genres of dance, music and drama in the Winchester / Southampton areas. From toddlers through to adults, there’s so much choice on offer, all of which help nurture confidence, well-being and life skills.
Samba friends
Swan Samba have made some amazing connections with teachers, bandas, blocos and batucadas all over the world, including Canada, Spain, Netherlands and, of course, Brazil. This has in turn helped enrich the learning of the band and opened up to some fantastic collaboration opportunities online and in person. The band’s work has also been featured in the press, including The Portsmouth News, Voice FM and BBC South Today.
